Siblingship Testing
Worldwide Genetics provides siblingship testing for individuals who would like to verify if they are full siblings, half siblings, or not related at all.
Siblings who know they have the same mother but are not sure if they have the same father may benefit from our full siblingship test.
Siblings who know they do not have the same mother but wonder if they have the same father may benefit from our half siblingship test.
Two alleged siblings submit DNA samples for a siblingship test. When possible, the siblings’ mother or mothers are encouraged to participate as well. A mother’s participation greatly assists in the DNA testing process.
Full and half siblingship tests are extremely complex—especially when the siblings’ mother(s) cannot contribute DNA samples. The results of a sibling DNA test provide a likelihood ratio that expresses the genetic odds in favor of (or against) a biological sibling relationship.
Siblingship testing from Worldwide Genetics is available as both a private test (in which the tested individuals collect their own DNA samples using our free kit) and a legal test (which follows the strict Chain of Custody process to make the test results legally defensible). We invite you to consult with one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives to find out which option is best for your situation.
