Grandparentage Testing

Worldwide Genetics offers grandparentage testing to conclusively determine if a child is biologically related to a tested set of grandparents. This type of DNA test is useful when the child’s alleged father cannot take part in a paternity test and the grandparents need to know if the child is biologically related to them.

In a grandparent DNA test, both of the alleged father’s biological parents must be tested against the child. We encourage the child’s mother to participate as well to assist the DNA testing process.

By examining and comparing the genetic profiles of the child and the alleged grandparents, we can tell if the child inherited DNA from the tested grandparents. If strong evidence of inheritance is shown, then the tested family members are biologically related.

The results of a grandparentage test will state whether or not the child is biologically related to the tested grandparents. Because the alleged father was not tested, the results will not state anything about whether the child is related to him.

You can choose to take your grandparentage test privately (by collecting your own DNA samples at home) or by using the legal testing option (which follows the Chain of Custody procedure to make your results legally defensible). When you order a test, you should discuss these options with one of our helpful customer service representatives to make sure you pick the best option for you.

Please call 1-800-DNA-8360 or use our online contact form for more information about the grandparent DNA testing options offered by Worldwide Genetics. We will be happy to answer any questions you have!
